iDemand a DAC – update

September 23, 2012

One advantage of having an iMac is that that it has a ‘digital audio optical out’ connection. So my tunes can go out as a digital signal via an optical cable to my DAC.  The big bonus of this technology is that it doesn’t transmit electrical noise or mains blips out to the DAC. And I have upgraded to a TEAC Reference Series DAC UD-H01 – as shown here. Well worth the investment.

I’m currently listening to Joni Mitchell’s “Little Green” through my Grado S325i’s and it seems as though she is inside my head. Pure joy. Clear as a bell. It is if she is really sat here in my bedroom on this dank,  dark and rather miserable, Sunday afternoon in the UK. Thank goodness for modern technology. It is great when it all comes together. Well worth getting your head around.
